chicago ZIP CODES

The city of Chicago was incorporated in 1837 with the boundaries between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River watershed. The city’s population exploded early on as it was a major transportation hub and a notable city of finance. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, several square miles of the city were destroyed, leaving over 100,000 residents homeless. From there, the City of Chicago focused on rebuilding, spurring a construction boom that accelerated the city’s population even further into the 20th Century. By 1900, Chicago was one of the five largest cities in the world.

Chicago has left its mark in a myriad of ways, from its glorious architecture as well as initiating new construction styles (including the notable Chicago School of architecture), the City Beautiful Movement, and constructing the first ever steel-framed skyscraper – the Home Insurance Building. Even to this day, Chicago has 4 of the 10 tallest buildings in the United States.

Chicago continues to be an eclectic mix of industries, from finance, commerce, technology, transportation, and telecommunications. No single industry employs more than 14% of the residents, making it one of the most diversified and prosperous economies in the United States.

The North Shore zip codes

The communities of the North Shore started to blossom following the opening of Evanston’s Northwestern University in 1855. Just two years later, with the opening of Lake Forest College, North Shore’s population grew even more, boosting the need for more extensive transportation connecting the North Shore communities to the city of Chicago.

Even today, the North Shore remains one of the last regions in the United States where you can see the quaint streetcars of yesteryear. North Shore’s communities include: Glencoe, Winnetka, Lake Bluff, Wilmette, Lake Forest, Highland Park, Evanston, and Kenilworth. North Shore is known for some of the most expensive zip codes in the United States. Zip code 60043 – Kenilworth - ranks as the third-richest zip code in the United States. Zip code 60045 - Lake Forest - another North Shore community, ranks thirteenth richest community. On its heels is zip code 60093 – Winnetka – ranks 14th richest zip code.

Dupage County

DuPage was carved out of Cook County in 1839 and is the state’s second most populous County, after Cook County. DuPage is named after the DuPage River, which was named after a French fur trapper, DuPage, who had a station on the bank of the river. The county seat of DuPage is Wheaton. Although there are still some areas of farmland in DuPage county, it’s by and large developed with suburbs; however, stunning parks and open space do remain for walks, hikes, and bike riding.

Wow! I don’t even know how to find the words to express how amazing Delphine is! She literally made the impossible happen. Yes, she is knowledgeable, extremely hard working, great skills but the thing that really shines for us is her dedication and genuine caring. Our situation was not easy as we were dealing with many difficult details including working from long distance and dealing with an elderly father who was easily confused. Delphine went above and beyond so many times to help our dad and stepped in often to take care of things that had nothing to do with selling his house. If you are looking for a realtor you can trust and who will never give up, as well as a genuinely kind person…..you have found her.

Jodie and Bob W.

Delphine and her team were knowledgeable, responsible and enthusiastic to work with. She helped us sell our house and purchase a new home in just 40 days. The process was well explained by Delphine from the first day. There were a few issues with inspection on our purchase side but she professionally negotiated so we could get the house at a fair price. The closings for both transactions were back-to-back but they were successfully done. Since then, we referred her to our neighbors and a couple of friends who need her services. We would recommend anyone who needs to sell or buy their house in the Gurnee, Grayslake area to Delphine and her team.

Matt and Sue T.

I don’t have enough good words to tell you about Delphine! First, she found us a house of our dreams (I mean it), second, she helped us with the documents, third, she has your best interests. And there are so much more! We are the first time home buyers. And, to be honest, don’t know anything about it. She will lead you step by step. So organized and honest! Honesty is so important o everyone when you are buying a house. She has the best contacts (lender, attorney, house inspection professional) who will always have time to help you! She is always on time, which is very important to us. We are so happy with Delphine’s services.
